Our Hopes For Chickdoom
When it comes to game development, there are a lot of considerations and a ton of obstacles. For many years this left the playground to big companies who can afford to spend both the money and time to secure resources to overcome these obstacles and deliver big game titles.
With obstacles I’m not talking about game design, development and creativity; I’m not talking about ideas but business rationale, marketing, alliances with hardware manufacturers and console makers as well as teaming up with publishers so a good or may be a modest game idea can see the light. It resembles producing a hollywood movie! But even with producing movies, technology advancements coupled with continuous price drops put tools in the hands of creatives and allow them once again to take the lead and produce great movies, Indie Movies.
When mobile devices came along and smart phones were becoming popular around 2006, game creatives were excited and we all were looking up for the new platform that would give us, the creatives, the lead again. That was not really true until 2008 when Apple announced its new platform and released its first iOS SDK along with the launch of the AppStore.
The beauty of the iOS platform is that it finally brought back the game development into the hands of game creatives. Yes, big companies and publishers are still in business and actually leveraged the platform very well, but game creatives, the independents are now taking the lead, never like before. Awesome titles and hits released and sometimes even leading and delivering completely new genres.
In Taya IT, and as a bunch of creatives, we have been working on different initiatives, ideas and experiments to have our modest contribution to this big universe of creativity and fun, the universe of mobile games.
With our new title, Chickdoom, our main goal is really to immerse and entertain the player. Our goal is to develop a daring and amazing game that follows current trends much more quickly than a big firm could hope to do. We are hard at work to give our customers a beautiful game that offers unique, creative game play and is bound to keep you coming back for more.
In the current AppStore ecosystem, games tend to stay in the top charts for much less time than they previously had. This means higher turnover and a need for new, inventive games that don’t follow trends, but create them.
That’s what we are hoping to build and deliver. We are not aiming or hoping for a smash hit; what we are looking for is a great amusing and compelling game that gets attention and acceptance over its life. Gives us a continuous growing user adoption and downloads over time. We want the users to be engaged with us and eventually work with us on making this game a hit of its own.
